1980 Harley-Davidson FLT Tour Glide Shovelhead

Price:
$8,750
Summary:
Used 1980 Harley-Davidson FLT 3,000 miles
Location:
Immokalee, FL
Description:

For 1980, the Tour Glide became the first Harley to get a five-speed transmission and three-point rubber engine mounting setup to smooth out the vibes from the 1,338-cc “Shovelhead” V-twin that had been around since 1966. The seller is offering a 1980 Harley-Davidson FLT Tour Glide that he acquired from the second owner, who he says had it for 32 years. He will include service records covering that period, notably $5,000 in work since August 2022 that included Cycle Electric electrical upgrades, a new clutch and tires, all fluids, and much more. Modifications include an S&S carburetor, “fishtail” exhaust pipes, upgraded Barnett clutch, and 32-amp electrical, the latter two items indicated as installed in August 2022 by renown Naples Florida Harley shop. Valves, hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel, and valves springs installed less than 3000 miles ago. The seller states it was ridden to Daytona Bike Week 2023 and back from Naples, Florida with no problems. The seller says that the motorcycle’s original gold paint is in “good condition,” along with the original pinstriping and graphics. There are “no significant” scratches or chips and “no rust.” Some small scuffs can be seen on the external oil tank cover. The Harley has new halogen headlights, and the seller says all lights and signals work. According to the owner, the bike’s brown vinyl seat “is fine” with no tears, and all gauges “work well.” He reports no issues for the hand and foot controls. The seller affirms that the as far as the bike’s suspension goes, the bushings and shocks “work fine and don’t leak,” and he reports a fork oil change in early 2023. The twin front disc brakes and new single rear disc “work great.” The seller reports no curb rash or vibrations for the alloy wheels and says the tires are six months old and has documentation to show this. The 1.3-liter air-cooled “Shovelhead” OHV V-twin was rated at 68 horsepower by the manufacturer when new and could move this big machine to 100 mph if called to do so. The seller says that the Harley-Davidson’s engine is original, and that it “starts fine with no smoke.” The seller indicates some “minor” oil drops. The five-speed manual transmission “shifts as it should. "The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean Florida title in his name. He will include 32 years of service records with the sale, owner's manual and service manual. Nicest original first year Tour Glide with original paint and original miles in country. This 1980 Harley-Davidson FLT Tour Glide was one of the earliest factory-built full-dresser touring bikes.
