1984 Honda V65 Sabre (VF1100S) Motorcycle
Classic muscle bike!
The Awesome:
•Only 29k miles
•120-hp liquid-cooled 1100cc (65ci) V4 engine
•6-speed overdrive transmission with maintenance-free shaft drive
•Full instrumentation -- including gear indicator, temperature, and fuel gauges
•Replacement fuse box -- all electronics work
•New Avon Azaro/Storm sport-touring tires last spring -- only 1k miles on them
•New brake pads and rear rotor last spring
•New battery 2 years ago, kept indoors on charger all winter
•Oil/filter change 2/19 -- uses standard auto oil and filter
•Self-canceling turn signals
•Averages 40-42 mpg
The Not-so:
•Front shocks ok, but need new fork seals. Rear shock soft, but ok.
•Cosmetically only fair -- plenty of scratches, scuffs, dust, and flaking clear coat
•Horn doesn't work
•A little rust on bottom of frame and exhaust -- no holes or damage
This is a reliable, fun, fast, and comfortable motorcycle. I've taken it on day trips around Iowa and it's never left me stranded. The engine is the smoothest of any motorcycle I've ever ridden, and is ridiculously strong -- the V65 was the fastest motorcycle in the world for 1985! This motorcycle starts every time and runs very well.
The seating position is comfortable; it's just slightly forward of a Gold Wing's. However, this bike likes to lean a lot more than a Wing, making it a great sport-touring bike, everyday commuter, or nimble cruiser. The additional forward pegs give you a place to stretch your legs on the highway.
I'm asking $1800 firm. Sale includes Clymer service manual, owners manual, and original tool kit.
