1974 Ducati 750 Sport

Summary:
Used 1974 Ducati 750
Location:
Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge, CA
Description:

This 1974 Ducati 750 Sport is one of 856 produced for the model year, and reportedly one of approximately 200 examples sold new in the US. It was acquired by the seller in 2006 and subsequently underwent a refurbishment that same year with marque specialist, Rich Lambrechts of Moto Finesse. Finished in a traditional yellow and black, the bike is powered by a rebuilt 748cc round-case L-twin, and features a half-fairing, Borrani wire wheels, Conti silencers, a modern electronic ignition, as well as a five-speed manual gearbox. Less than 1k miles have been added by the seller during his 13 years of ownership, during which time the bike has been kept in climate-controlled storage and ridden to various local shows or events. This 750 Sport is now being offered with the factory keys, assorted records, and a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name. The 750 Sport was based on the 750GT and produced for three years, during which 1,625 examples were built in total. Each was delivered from the factory with a solo saddle, rearsets, and clip-on handlebars. This example features an optional half fairing, a steel fuel tank, and an aftermarket headlight assembly. A paint blemish is noted on the upper right-hand side of the fairing just below the windscreen. Close-up photos of the side covers, decals, windscreen, and fairing are provided in the gallery below. Borrani Record aluminum rims measure 19” front and 18” rear, and are mounted with Avon tires that should be replaced due to age according to the seller. The Marzocchi leading-axle fork features a single Lockheed brake caliper, which is said to have been rebuilt along with the Brembo master cylinder in 2020. Veglia-Borletti gauges include a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 150-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 18k miles, less than 1k of which were added by the seller over the past 13 years. The instrument backlights are disconnected and their wires tucked aside. Factory specifications for the 748cc round-case L-twin included a 9.3:1 compression ratio, Dell’Orto PHF32 carburetors with velocity stacks, and free-flowing cylinder heads when compared to the standard 750 GT. This example was reportedly delivered new with black engine cases, and was overhauled in 2006-2007 by Rich Lambrechts. New accelerator pump diaphragms and a replacement battery were fitted in 2020. A broken fin is noted on the vertical cylinder, and a spare cylinder barrel is included in the sale. The head tube stamping and engine number are shown above. Photos of the insignias on the Conti pipes, Tommaselli clip-ons, and aluminum Borrani rims are provided in the gallery below. A framed image of the bike is included in the sale along with a 1975 Michigan title from and a bank loan termination letter from 1977. The bike is sold with an Illinois title assigned to its engine number. A walk-around video is provided below.
