Description:

Third model year of Yamaha's first 4-cylinder superbike. Stock with a couple of exceptions: Dealer-installed Vetter/Samsonite touring package, added fairing lowers, and passenger grab bar from a '79 model. I never got around to painting the fairing lowers to match the rest of the fairing. Grab bar also fits, but it’s not the 1980 version with the straight lower part (it took me two years to find this one).Clean Missouri title in seller's name.Starts and runs fine with one exception: Hard acceleration at highway speeds (70-80mph) starts rough before the engine eventually smooths out. I think it’s a fuel delivery or vacuum leak -- maybe a fuel delivery problem caused by a vacuum leak. Other than that, it runs great. No smoke from the exhaust, no oil leaks. Air intake components (filter/box/boots) are stock. All electrics work, windshield is nice and clear. No cracks in the fairing or side covers. Fairing pocket covers are intact; one has a lock with key. Tank has a couple small paint chips and one small ding in front of the filler cap. Seat cover is getting brittle, with one repair and a few small cracks developing. Dunlop 404 tires are good; front one is fresh. Rear brake drags some until it warms up (caliper has been rebuilt -- may need new lines). Four-into-two exhausts are original with no rust holes. Battery is good.Comes with original tool kit, including the wire tool for compressing rear shocks for axle/wheel removal. Key for locking left side cover also is included. Also have Clymer manual and special shield designed to keep the reflection of instrument lights off the windshield at night. Suitcase-like bags also are lockable – the latches on the bags lock, and the bags also lock to the mounting bars. Keys are included, as are fabric weather covers for bags. Note: When luggage is installed, rear turn signal (included – see photo) must be relocated to a chrome bar that bolts to the license plate mount. Bar with mounted extra flashers included.
