Description:
This exquisite 1932 BSA 500cc W32-6 was restored by Walter Worsch and held in his families private collection since completion. This is one of the very few motorcycles ever to be a winner at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It features a side valve 500cc single cylinder motor with a three speed tank shifter. This BSA was manufactured with the attached sidecar frame from the factory and as such is equipped with BSA sidecar gear ratios from the factory. The sidecar frame, made by BSA has leaf springs in the rear and coil springs in the front of the triangular frame. It also features the rare BSA sidecar braking system from the factory that activates the front brake when pressing the rear brake pedal. The original side car body was never found so this bike uses a period correct Steib replica sidecar body specially provided by Doug Bingham for this restoration. The upholstery was custom made in leather to match the original. It features an Amal brass body carb with a remote float. Ignition is via Lucas Magdyno. It has 6 volt electrics. Walter took the engine apart down to the cases and completely rebuilt it. All of the electrics have been rewired. The gauges, headlight, and taillight were painstakingly rebuilt and are all original to this bike. The original wheels were restorable and retained. The biggest challenge for Walter when he restored this bike was to collect the data he needed to assure accuracy in every phase of the rebuild. The British BSA Club was instrumental in providing parts fiche and manuals to assure that all of the details are as original. They also provided a Dating certificate to assure that the motor and the frame numbers are correct and original for this bike as it left the factory. This is important because British engines of this period did not have engines engraved with the same numbers as the frames.
