Description:
Very unusual, one year model, and the very first twin developed by BMW after WWII. Let me begin by stating this bike is in exceptional running and riding condition, and I would not hesitate to get on it, begin it in a couple of kicks as it constantly does, and ride it anywhere. I have possessed it for about 13 years, and a complete mechanical and partial cosmetic restoration was completed 8 years ago. I have put 1900 problem complimentary miles on since then, and it is all set for a lot more. The engine, geabox, and rear end were entirely refurbished; the bike was still on the stock bore after over 50 years (!) and still within tolerance, but I opted to bore it to first over and install new pistons. The frame and sheet metal had the very good surface which is still on it and were just rubbed and polished. Some smaller sized products were refinished, all hardware plated, and every bearing and seal replaced. Exhaust system, correct 3.5 mm spokes (now difficult to discover), and all rubber was replaced with new. The battery is a dry cell housed in a customizeded shell with the original top cover to look right, however without the risk of any acid spillage. A rear brake light switch was contributed to appear like a factory item, and not such as an add-on as lots of do. Mileage on speedo is not original ... ...
