Description:
Extremely uncommon, one year model, and the very first twin constructed by BMW after WWII. Let me begin by stating this bike is in extraordinary running and riding condition, and I would not think twice to get on it, start it in one or 2 kicks as it constantly does, and ride it anywhere. I have possessed it for about 13 years, and a complete mechanical and partial cosmetic restoration was finished 8 years earlier. I have actually put 1900 problem complimentary miles on ever since, and it is all set for lots of more. The engine, geabox, and rear end were entirely reconditioned; the bike was still on the stock bore after over 50 years (!) and still within tolerance, but I picked to bore it to initially over and set up new pistons. The frame and sheet metal had the really good finish which is still on it and were just buffed and polished. Some smaller items were refinished, all hardware plated, and every bearing and seal changed. Exhaust system, appropriate 3.5 mm spokes (now difficult to find), and all rubber was changed with new. The battery is a dry cell housed in a customizeded shell with the initial top cover to look proper, however without the threat of any acid spillage. A rear brake light switch was added to appear like a factory item, and not like an add-on as numerous do.
