Description:
Fortunately all the numbered frame and engine components were present and all numbers matched, including covers. Parts were obtained from Coventry Spares in Maine and The Vincent Owners Club in the Uk. With constant tutelage from our resident Vincent expert, Phil Mahood, I set about to rebuild this bike. Ken Rosevear rebuilt the crank and heads and Doug Wood rebuilt the mag. Gary Robinson, Isle of Wight, rebuilt the mark I cams. I did the assembly. This bike has been rebuilt to original specifications including standard bore with 7:1 low expansion pistons with .004" clearance. All minor upgrades as recommended by E.M.G. Stevens in Know Thy Beast, such as oil seals in the valve guides, were done. This is a genuine, factory built Red and Black Vincent Rapide built to order for Indian Sales in the U.S. Of 107 Red Vincents built, 31 were built with red fenders and gas tank, the remainder of the bike was black. It is believed that only about a dozen of these red and black Vincents survive.
