1959 Bsa B33

Price:
$5,800
Summary:
Used 1959 1,000 miles
Location:
Los Angeles, CA
Description:

Very cool old British survivor. Here are the details:The good· Clean CA title· Runs strong, less than 1000 miles sinceinstalling new piston and rings· New tires (knobby, IRC front Firestone rear)· New chain· New brake shoes· Voltage regulator/rectifier replaced withmodern electronic unit (still runs points and condenser though)· New aftermarket (repro) items include clutchand brake levers, Halcyon bar end mirrors, seat, muffler, tank emblems, grips. All as close to original as I couldfind· Compression release on handlebar makes kickstarting easier· 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly (1 up 3down), clutch in good shape (besides weird shifting pattern, the bike takessome getting used to – shifter is on the right, brake lever on the left)· Includes Clymer manual, owner’s manual, and BSAparts book (reprint)The bad· No kickstand, center stand only· Original headlight nacelle was long gone when Igot the bike, never been able to find a decent replacement· Due to missing headlight nacelle, no gauges· For the same reason, ignition switch is ageneric replacement installed on the fork ear. If you ever find and install the correct nacelle, the original switch isstill available from British suppliers (have fun wiring up those 21 terminals!)· No turn signals (they weren’t offered asoriginal equipment)· Right petcock leaks gas. Could be just the hose; I leave it shut offand use the left one. So why are there twopetcocks on a bike with only one carb to feed? I suspect they used this tank on multiple models, both twins andsingles, and plugged off one hole at the factory when it was installed on a single· And finally, yes it leaks oil. As soon as you fix one leak, oil will findanother way out. Typical for any Britbike this old, that’s one reason the Japanese ate their lunch starting in the1960s.· Front fender is off the bike. I have one with the stays and everythingneeded to mount it, already painted to match, will include with sale. The ugly· Dent in left side of fuel tank· Not much chrome on this one, as it was a prettylow-end model. Engine cases, etc. aremostly aluminumI’ve tried to provide as accurate a description aspossible; if you have questions please contact me. Bike is sold as is, no warranty, guarantee,or return. Buyer to arrangeshipping. $300 deposit due within 3 daysof auction closing, balance due and bike must be picked up within 10 days of auctionclosing. Thanks for looking.
