About this vehicleThis 1962 Harley-Davidson BTH Scat is a modified vehicle. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle needs work and is mainly used for auto shows. Seller's NotesVintage Harley Davidson Flat track Racer Vehicle Details1962 Harley Scat Flat track racer with clean open title. Bike was raced around the Midwest all through the 1960's and features a highly modified engine with very sought after vintage Puckett Harley Davidson parts. Some mods include race ported cylinder with original cooling fins milled off and larger aluminum fins pressed on, modified race piston, magneto racing ignition with really cool side cover mounted foot operated kill switch. Large Carburetor with custom intake welded to cylinder, no front brakes hub is gutted, lots of extra grease zerks installed, custom built large high performance air filter housing, etc. I purchased this Motorcycle from the estate of the original owner. I thoroughly cleaned it but have not altered it in any way aside from adding number plates. All finishes are as found and original to the bike. The inside of the tank is excellent. Extra parts included are the original front fender, speedometer, taillight, handle bars as well as an extra front and rear fender, coil relocater, extra race ported cylinder, dual plug head, and some loose hardware. The original owner raced this bike in two different configurations, as shown, and with different tins. Certain tracks would not allow a gas tank this large and some others required a front fender. I will include the different fenders he ran but do not have the smaller tank. I have not had this bike running but the engine is free with very good compression. I pulled the jug and side covers to inspect and the cylinder and the bore and piston look great. Mag looks great as well. My plans were to disassemble the clutch and clean it and change the oil, Install new mag to coil wires as the jackets have some cracked spots, and clean and rebuild the carburetor and petcock. And it should be ready to run. I did pull the float bowl and the carb is clean inside but bowl gasket is brittle. This bike will not shift out of gear to neural but I'm not sure if something is gummed up or if this is a race mod. This bike displays great as it sits and would be a great addition to any museum or mancave or with a little work perfect for the Vintage Flat track races in Davenport. The original owner has passed but still has family in the Taylorville Illinois and St. Louis MO area I have not talked with them directly but my understanding is that they love to share stories about their Fathers racing days so I'm pretty sure a complete history of this bike can be researched. Bike is located in Ofallon mo about 30 miles west of St.Louis MO. If paid in full bike can sit for a few months if needed to arrange pickup. (but let's not go overboard lol) Bike has clean open title and is being sold as is for display purposes or parts or repair it is in non running condition with no warranty. What you see in pics is what you get aside from the pics of documents they were taken from the estate of the original owner and are shown for refrence only to help with bike history i do not own them.
