Up for bid is a recently restored 1969 BSA Starfire 250. About a year ago I bought this and another bike off of a buddy who was looking to free up some cash to buy a race bike. He owned for about 5 years and did absolutely nothing to it. It just sat in the corner of his garage. I bought it because the chrome was in good shape and the bike was complete. When he bought the bike it had an A10 BSA gas tank on it. It's a pretty tank and all but it's WAY too big for this bike and it just looked silly. I bought a Starfire tank and had it stripped, cleaned, lined with Caswell and painted. Here are more of the particulars of the bike:Replacement BSA gas tank with Caswell lining and new badges and chrome trim. This bike was originally blue but I never liked that shade of blue and I think it looks great in red. Tank and side covers were professionally painted about a month ago. The tank badges and chrome trim are all new.The fork was rebuilt with new bushings, seals, and springs. New Tri-Spark electronic ignition instead of the original points. Cylinder head serviced with new valvesNew Hepolite piston and ringsNew Amal carburettorNew front brakesChrome on rims and spokes are in very good shapeChrome on fenders is in very good shapeThe muffler, pipe, and heat guards are in very good shape.The seat looks like it was recently recovered (or is original and in excellent shape) but it has a few dimples from something sitting on it for a few years. I suspect that they can be worked out over time. The speedo does not work. I believe the speedo drive works fine so it's likely that the speedometer may not be working. That is total speculation on my part though. I have the title in hand for the bike so no worries about getting it titled and registered in your name.The bike is really beautiful and has a new lease on life. It's survived over 50 years and now is in good shape for the next 50. Between parts and original purchase of the bike I have about $4,000 invested, not including my labor. The bike is built correctly and reliably. If you are looking for an "around town" bike this is a great option. If you are looking for a cross-country highway cruiser then this is not the bike for you. It's quite comfortable humming along at 45-50mph. I've had it to about 70-75 but the bike was not a big fan of those speeds. Stand over saddle height is very approachable. I have about a 30" inseam and can stand flat footed over the bike no problem.
