Due to age, I’m continuing to sell more of my 25 motorcycle collection. I purchased this Triumph a few years ago from a gentleman who owned and treasured it for more than 30 years. He traveled extensively with his work and was moving to England and could not take the bike with him. According to him, he restored it about a dozen years prior. The restoration included a fresh top end with .20 over pistons, rings, bearings, pushrods, valves, guides and the appropriate gaskets and seals. Also added new Hagon shocks, primary chain, clutch plates and springs, seat cover, English made exhaust, Dunlop K70 tires, tubes, rechromed the Dunlop rims and replaced with SS spokes, brakes and new hub cap. The frame was sandblasted and painted, tank and fenders repainted and cleared with correct scallops and stripes and fresh decals applied. Gauges were rebuilt and new instrument and brake cables added. Several smaller parts were powder coated and much of the lighter hardware was replaced with stainless. It has only been ridden 650 miles since the restoration. It does have a few very minor nicks and scuffs from years of moving and storage so I would not classify it as concourse today but rather a very, very nice, high end Sunday cruiser you could be proud to ride and/or show. The carbs were sloppy so I installed a new set of replacements carbs. I was able to start the bike and have it idle at about 2000 Rpm’s but the new carbs will need to be fettled with to get it spot on. Shortly before I purchased the motorcycle, the previous owner had a lifter block replaced and while the head was off, he opted to have new rings installed with few miles on since that service. So it will put out some white smoke until the rings properly seat. As such, it would be advisable to follow break-in protocols and re-torque the barrels, head and rocker boxes after a hundred miles or so. Aside from the stainless hardware, this is quite an original, accurate and “old school” restoration. Still running a points, rectifier and Zenner diode ignition/electrical system. Interestingly, it also retains the original, one year only, rare twin Hooter hi/low horns, and they work. It is a numbers matching unit with a clean SC signed title. Wire transfer or cash are the preferred payment options. Inspections are welcome.
