Description:

1971 Norton 750cc Commando Fastback. Matching numbers bike being sold on a bill of sale. Purchased from an estate, previous owners documents have not yet been found so it on a bill of sale. Off the road since 2009. Unique 1971 Fastback model has been fitted with a 1968 Fuel Tank as well as a later disc brake front end. Other changes from standard are dual Mikuni Carbs with ACK Manifolds, electronic ignition with a dual output coil, solid state charging as well an 18" rear wheel. Overall the bike displays nicely and runs well starting on the first or second kick. The fuel tank has been treated with Caswell liner to protect the fibre glass from modern fuel. No history is known about the engine internals. I have only ridden the bike a few miles locally and it appears ok, clutch and gearbox performing as you would expect as do the brakes. The bad things I have found are the two areas of wear to the red gelcoat on the tank that can be seen in the photos. The paint on the frame shows a lot of scratches and wear but aluminum and chrome are good. Tires are over 10 years old and will need to be replaced. The fluids have been changed. The rubber boots on the isolastics are getting a bit tired so servicing in this area would be a good idea. Engine and gearbox appear to be leak free. Battery is a few years old so should be replaced. Tachometer is working fine but the Speedometer is not currently working. Seat foam is great as is the cover. The dual Mikuni's presently have no air filters fitted. The silencers were replaced and the right hand one has some scratches where the kick start lever has fouled it.
