1973 Honda CB

Price:
$1,234
Summary:
Used 1973 Honda CB 3,900 miles
Location:
Hampton Falls, NH
Description:

I am the original owner of this 1973 Honda CB450 K6. I purchased it 50 years ago on June 14, 1973 from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ. The price was $1,234.95, including tax, extended warrantee and 2 helmets. I was 22 years old at the time. I rode the bike occasionally during the first few years of ownership, including a trip from New Jersey to Nova Scotia in August 1975, riding along with my older brother who was on a 1972 Harley Sportster. Soon thereafter, I had my first child and focused on my family and career, only riding sparingly for many years - which is why the bike only has 3,900 original miles. The bike is an original unrestored survivor, with the original 1973 dealer bill of sale and registration paperwork, it has all matching numbers and decals, just as it came when new. Over the years, the only changes I made were related to maintenance and reliability (battery, tires, brakes, minor electrical components). Whenever parts were replaced, I retained the original factory parts - which can easily be reinstalled if desired by the next owner (other than the original battery). For instance, I still have the original factory Bridgestone Super Speed 21F2/R2 tires (excellent tread, no cracking). These could be reinstalled if the new owner wants to place the bike in a collection, rather than actively ride the bike. Other changes include new front hydraulic brake lines, brake pads and caliper, restored master cylinder. I also replaced the original condensers, coils/spark plug wires and installed a modern regulator/rectifier. All the original OEM take-off parts, which are still fully functional, are being sold along with the bike. When I recently decided to sell the bike, I took it out of 2-year storage. I flushed and cleaned the gas tank and carbs, installed new fuel hoses and petcock, changed the engine oil and spark plugs. I also installed a new MOTOBATT MB12U AGM battery. The bike runs and looks great (numerous photos/videos are available). Brakes, gauges and lights all work correctly. Compression is 160 in both cylinders. Everything else is just as it came from the factory: all original paint and decals on the gas tank and side covers, original fenders, mufflers and pipes, gauges, spoke wheels, seat, factory tool kit and vinyl storage bag, the operator’s manual with its original plastic cover, etc. I also have a KG Engineering period-correct luggage rack that was installed on the bike in its early years. This is truly a 50-year time capsule. At this point in my life, I don’t have plans to ride anymore and have decided the time has come to pass this along to a vintage bike enthusiast who will appreciate its complete ownership history, documentation, condition, low mileage and originality. From the photos you can see the matching VIN numbers, original engine number and all the factory decals. The bike still has a NJ inspection sticker on the rear fender from 1975, and also has a 2003 license plate from when I lived in Connecticut, which all add to the preserved history of the bike. The buyer will receive all the original registration paperwork, dealer bill of sale, maintenance records, take-off parts, luggage rack, original tires, service manuals, etc. I’m only interested in selling to a serious collector that understands the investment and historical value of an unrestored, 1-owner survivor with full documentation and ownership history. I am available to discuss the bike in detail and can do a FaceTime video with seriously interested buyers. The bike is located In Hampton Falls, NH about 35 minutes North of Boston. I can assist the winning bidder with shipping if required.
