If you're trying to find an impressive Commando 850, one that starts first kick, idles sweetly, runs and trips like a new bikeor betterand looks spectacular, then this is your dream device. I seriously question any rides or runs better than this one. This Norton is fully sorted and all set to ride anywhere without a concern.This 1974 Commando Roadster has been fitted with the very preferable Interstate "Long Distance" fuel tank and matching side panels. As you can see, it sports a genuine Norvil front floating disc brake for incredible stopping power. New Avon tyres are fitted for excellent handling and trip quality.The machine has actually been totally reconditioned, taken down to the bare frame, powder-coated, the suggested head stable set up, replated and polished as required and skillfully painted in the most gorgeous Norton Red. A brand name new seat was fitted.The engine is entirely reconstructed, with Superblend lower end bearings, Megacycle # 12 grind camera, Black Diamond valves, and the best of everything to make it the most smooth, trustworthy and powerful it can be. Braided steel lines are utilized where the stock plastic parts were known to fail. In the interest of one-kick starting, best idling at all temperatures, perfect running and minimal maintenance, a new 34mm Mikuni conversion was carried out (the dual Amals and manifolds are available and choose the bike for any purists out there ... but why?), along with a TriSpark ignition module. The gearbox was reconstructed as well, and it moves like new.While this Norton was treated to everything and anything needed, it has endured in the genuine world for a couple of years because, and it is not best. There are very couple of flaws however 2 that bear mentioning are a damage in the front fender where the forks bottomed out as a result of too-soft springs (because changed), and a few extremely superficial defects in the paintwork near the gas cap, which were hard to photo (virtually undetectable) but you can see the yellow circle and arrow point to one. All controls work with buttery smoothness and all electrics work properly.This Norton Commando is an absolute enjoyment to ride and own, being the one bike in your collection that will certainly always begin, lug you down the road without fault, and get you house with a grin.
