This is basically a new (works) 1977 Maico MC/AW 250. That being said, some specific parts are not new because they are rare originals. Other parts are hand made custom pieces or newly made machined pieces, and some parts are brand new modern upgrades. All in all, almost every piece of this motorcycle has been rebuilt, gone thru, or replaced with a custom or vintage piece. You will not find another 1977 Maico like this one or with these pieces. I make a LOT of hand fabricated gas welded aluminum pieces. Here is a partial list of the non-original/custom parts on this motorcycle: Hand formed brand new custom aluminum tank(1972 Maico 125 style in .050), side panels, and airbox. Suspension modifications: vintage air forks/Aluminum fork dustcover/seals (1" added suspension and custom internals), Torsten Hallman swing arm, original Fox air shox (rebuilt by Thor with manuals). Wheels: Wheelsmith laced, new heavy stainless spokes and nipples, straight original time period rims used. Both front and rear drums turned. New shoes, sprockets and new 6061 machined rear backing plate bearings, tires, rim strips, etc.. Seat: Custom upholstery to match the fit with the 1972 tank. The engine is completely gone thru with Wossner Piston, fresh bore, rebuilt crank, new rod and bearings, replaced clutch (new washers and comes with original Wheelsmith clutch spring), new electronic ignition (starts easily), new kicker shaft, new kicker, Mikuni carburetor (comes with original Bing and boots for airbox to swap). All controls, cables, bearings replaced.Rear brake and foot pegs machined out of 6061 aluminum and on bearing or bronze pivots.The up pipe was straightened and new mounts (rubber) were made and installed. The silencer is new and custom made by me. Look closely at the photos. I will put up more photos soon. The motorcycle is a one of one. Almost no one else is making 1972 Maico aluminum tanks, side panels and airbox like these (they were originally fiberglass or plastic). I've restored several original Maico factory race tanks, and they are all made out of .050 aluminum like this tank. About the only things on this motorcycle still left over from the factory are the engine cases and the frame which is powder coated, so that also is not original. However, the buyer is responsible for pickup and shipping and the motorcycle will not leave my possession until payment in full is made and cleared through the bank.
