I'm selling my 1979 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH Survivor. The bike is very original. To my knowledge the only none correct facets of this bike is that the front fender has been shortened and the rocker shaft nuts are chrome when I believe they should be the red plastic type. I got this bike a few years ago (~35,000 Miles at the time) from the back of a shop going out of business. It was mildly disassembled but complete. It had been sitting for a number of years. I then went through a mild restoration to replace all the usual issues. This included: - New Tires - New Battery - Cleaned the gas tank - Rebuilt the brakes systems, both front and rear - New Brake Pads - Rebuilt the front forks - Cleaned and greased electrical connections - Lubricated all the bearings & cables - Rebuilt the carb - Had the heads redone, as it was needed - New Pistons - Honed the jugs - Re-installed the OEM exhaust system with correct brackets and heat shield - New air filter - Replaced other worn parts with OEM replacements - Replaced all non-oem parts (Seat, pipes, battery side cover) Since then I ride the bike periodically. It runs and drives perfectly. I would ride this sportster anywhere. It starts right up, even after a long winter. Everything works correctly on this bike including the charging system, lights, switches, gauges. I did not work on the transmission but I suspect it was rebuilt or replaced at some point because it shifts perfectly. The bike does have few dings/scratches. The worst one is individually pictured, looks like a rake handle fell on the tank. I'm selling because you can't keep them all. Cheap entry for a original paint antique Harley Davidson.
