I am privileged to put up a Malcolm Smith prepared 1979 Baja 1000 Winning Husqvarna 390CR for sale. 1979 was a great year for Husqvarna at the Baja 1000. They won 1st place in every class that year. Husqvarna made a lot of changes in 1979 on the 390CR. It was designed on a whole new chassis. They reduce the width of the chrome moly frame, but added an extra backbone tube for rigidity. That also helped trim weight. The new swing arm design was 10mm wider, and stronger. And with the new Ohlin suspension, a full foot of front & rear travel, and a 13” ground clearance it was born to race desert!Rod Gilliland & Zane Prather won the Baja 1000 in Class 38 on this Husky 390CR. It was restored to its “race ready” condition right after Rod & Zane won the Baja 1000 in 79’. It has been sitting static in a garage in Palm Springs for over 40 years. I tried to start it, but couldn’t get it to turn over. I hope it goes to a good home. I am selling this 79’ Baja 1000 Winning Husqvarna 390CR “As-Is” Bill of Sale only.
