This 1979 Triumph Bonneville Special 750cc 140d (Daytona) was acquired by the seller in 2005.The Bonneville 140d was a “factory custom” developed for the American market by Triumph’s Meriden factory. Left hand gear shift and right hand kick start made it an American Triumph. A black paint scheme and gold pin stripping was chosen by Triumph to finish the look for the American market.Changes to the bike include; handle bars were sourced from Rabers Parts Mart of San Jose, the seat and fork gators were changed out, the tank colors were sourced from Don Hutchinson Cycle, the “luggage rack” was made by Wassell of England, and header exhaust is the Isle of Mann TT style exhaust (baffled so it’s not super loud). The rear turn signals have been shortened to avoid being damaged. The Bonneville includes side and center stands, Lester mag wheels, original chrome fenders, Smith gauges, a five speed transmission, a newer seat cover in great condition, the original owner’s handbook and a copy of the 650 and 750 Triumph Haynes owner’s workshop manual. The most recent work includes; new brake pads and pistons (less than 50 miles) transmission was rebuilt with all new seals, bushings and bearings (less than 500 miles) electronic ignition has been replaced with Boyer ignition, and the stock carbs have been replaced with Wassell Evolution carburetors. There are a couple of small scratches and a small dent on the tank, otherwise the bike runs and works like it should.This is a beautiful and very reliable bike. I have a video of the bike being cold started on the first kick.
