Description:

1984 Honda V45 Sabre VF700S with under 19,000 miles. Water Cooled 700cc V4 DOHC engine 6 Speed Overdrive TransmissionShaft DriveMono SuspensionI have owned and maintained it over the past 15 years. Within the past 2 years, the fork seals were replaced and the carburetors cleaned/serviced. The brake and clutch fluids were flushed this year. The battery was replaced this month and this motorcycle is ready for some riding enjoyment. This motorcycle has been fun to ride and has an incredible amount of torque due to its V4 engine design. My cold start and ride video is here: https://youtu.be/Tb35POrLKcgFor the buyer who may purchase this online, I strive to give you the most accurate positive and critical depiction of this motorcycle. That way you know exactly what to expect. I have owned Honda bikes over the past 45 years of my life and am very particular in what I own to the point of OCD. I am also very seasoned mechanically and diligently care for my vehicles. Whomever purchases this motorcycle gets a great vintage motorcycle with some great performance that rivals the newer bikes. What I describe below is accurate and not hiding any deeper hidden issues that the buyer would be concerned about.I describe this as I would if I were to sell this to a family member or best friend. I wouldn’t be apprehensive to sell this to either of the above. MechanicalsThe brakes are good, the exhaust is stock, the engine is mechanically sound, quiet, smooth running, and dependable. No oil consumption between oil changes. No oil, coolant, or gas leaks. The shaft drive is tight and quiet. Engine compression is good. Clutch is good. Rear monoshock suspension is in good condition – no air or fluid leakage. Cooling system and fan work great. Tires are in decent condition.Camshaft lobes are good. The dealer installed an enhanced oil lubrication modification early on to prevent the known camshaft lobe wear issue that plagued the 1982 and 1983 models at that time. This motorcycle does not experience these issues. The transmission is in good shape and solid. The transmissions shifts positively, directly, and tightly between all gears, and neutral is positively found without any difficulty. My best advice would be not to race-shift AKA speed-shift these bikes to avoid grinding the gears (the same issue with most other Honda motorcycles of that era). If you are looking for a bike to race or abuse, these are not the ones to do it to. These are great vintage bikes that deserve better than that. Pull the clutch lever in completely when shifting from first to second gear so that the gears (syncros) don’t grind, Just give the syncros a ¼ second to align with the clutch pulled in and you will not experience any type of grind. This is something you should do anyhow when cruising. There’s nothing wrong with the transmission, it’s just the way that a lot of Hondas were in the 1970s-80s. PerformanceThis motorcycle starts up cold right away with the choke engaged. I usually let it warm up a minute or two depending on how long as it’s been sitting. Warm startups are immediate. PLENTY OF TORQUE AND POWER.I’m selling this because I would like to reclaim the space in my garage and I was only riding it on average 200 miles a year (thus the historical license plates). Obviously, it’s not a new bike but for 40 years old, it is in really nice shape and has never left me stranded. To summarize, it would have any other wear, feel, or quirks that any other older Honda motorcycle with 19k miles would have. I’ve tried my best to describe the motorcycle as best as I can.Title/RegistrationVIN: JH2RC220XEM001347This motorcycle has a clean Ohio title with under 19,000 actual miles. I have a copy of the previous owner’s title from July 2008 which stated 13,850 miles, When I transferred it over in Sept 2008, I had mistakenly put 13,600 on the title application which contradicted the previous title’s actual mileage by 250 miles. Instead of chasing down the previous owner and having them get a replacement title, I checked the Odometer Discrepancy box so that I could get this transferred over without a hassle. The odometer does show the true mileage of this motorcycle. Local pickup only
