This machine sold new for 15,000 euros in ‘94. Today’s equivalent to roughly $22,500 USD. The YB9SR is a handmade masterpiece designed and assembled by Italy’s most legendary and exotic motorcycle boutique marquee - Bimota - and this one is a low mileage 11k mile example. Bimota motorcycles are well known for their highly unique and specially designed chassis. Each model Bimota features exquisite design and styling elements that are indicative of the firm’s belief that the “Italian way" is better. The styling cues and design elements of this Bimota YB9 reinforces that mentality. It is a diminutive middleweight weapon and recognized as one of the smallest and most compact middleweight sportbikes of its era. The racing inspired chassis consists of a super lightweight and structurally superior twin spar, rib gusseted extruded/cast aluminum frame with an aluminum swingarm.The YB9sr features a Yamaha 600cc, DOHC, water cooled powerplant with a screaming 13,000 rpm redline, and a quartet of individual downdraft Mikuni carbs. This 600cc middleweight fighter features a wet clutch, 6 speed transmission and wrings out horsepower in excess of 100+. Dry weight is a paltry 385lbs. Also featured on this bike is the original Bimota 4 into 1 exhaust. Dual Ram air intake tubes route cool fresh air to the pressurized airbox located under the lightweight fiberglass fuel tank cover. This Italian collectible features only the highest quality chassis components including dual 320mm Brembo floating rotors with 4 Brembo piston calipers up front and a 230mm Brembo rotor and dual piston caliper in the rear. The YB9sr is suspended on fully adjustable Superbike spec Italian made Paoili Racing suspension components.This is a superb running and ready to ride bike that underwent full front to rear restoration summer of 2023 which includes the following work.Front and rear brake calipers and rear master cylinder fully rebuilt and serviced. Brand new front brake master cylinder. Both front and rear brake systems have been flushed with Brembo 600 degree RBF and have brand new custom made black -3 lines. This bike has super-firm and progressive brake lever/pedal action with zero caliper/rotor drag. Wheels roll with zero resistance.Brand new set of Michelin Power 5 tires mounted to grey powder coated 17” Marchesini magnesium wheels. Brand new premium Regina gold x-ring chain and 520 AFAM racing sprockets. All fluids flushed and changed. Engine oil and filter changed using Maxima 10/40 full-synthetic. Radiator flushed, cleaned and topped up with new antifreeze.. All cables lubed and adjusted, throttle snaps back with precision. Clutch and choke cable both have smooth action.Fuel supply has been completely restored and includes a brand new in-tank fuel pump, complete carb rebuild and synch, replacement of in-tank fuel hoses, exterior hoses, vacuum lines, fuel pump sealing flange, and the automatic vacuum operated fuel petcock diaphragm assembly has been replaced.This bike fires, idles, throttles like new with zero mechanical defects whatsoever. No leaks, no glitches whatsoever. Charging system is fully functional and battery is an AGM type Yuasa with trickle charger pigtail installed. Automatic temp controlled radiator cooling fan functions as normal.Swingarm, shock, mounts, steering stem bearings and all pivot points have been cleaned, greased, properly adjusted and re-torqued. No squeaks, creaks or binding of suspension or steering. The 41mm Paioli RWU Superbike forks have been fully serviced including new fork seals, bushings, and fluid and feature full compression and rebound adjustments. The YB9sr comes standard with a top shelf, fully adjustable, remote reservoir Paioli mono shock.Cosmetics - Freshly painted fiberglass with signature “TECH46 Original” graphic/paint package. Instead of the rather bland and conservative solid powder blue or solid lemon yellow paint job that was offered by Bimota, the design partners at TECH46 in Birmingham developed an original, one-of-a-kind, custom paint scheme more flattering and fitting to this exotic machine. Featuring a combination of House of Color candy Oriental Blue and Cobalt Blue striping on Gloss Black with Orion Silver accent striping. This stunning, show quality paint scheme is finished with multiple wet coats of PPG DC2000 clear coat and features reflective white and fluorescent rocket red Bimota logos. This motorcycle is an absolute show stopper when seen in the natural sunlight. Black number plates are flanked by the obligatory Italian flag accents, and currently feature non-clear coated reflective white "#2"’s (should its new owner want to remove or change the racing number). Other than the "2"s, all graphics and decals are cleared coated. The superbike style solo tailsection features a slick LED tail/brake light and the gnarly, obtrusive rear mudguard that came standard on this bike has been jettisoned to allow the aerodynamically clean and sleek under tail with tidy license tag mount. The bike also features a perfectly clear, optically correct, brand new Lief Gustaffson windscreen. This YB9sr Bimota was never homologated for import to the USA and was limited to a tiny global production run of only 651 units. Even though the SB9 was never officially homologated for the USA market, Bimota did earmark approx 60 of the 651 total units for US market. These particular “FOR USA” bikes were fitted with a factory Yamaha guage cluster that featured a MILES per hour display speedometer (not KM), adjacent to a 13K RPM tachometer, and a water temp gauge that displays in Celsius (not Fahrenheit). This is one of those 60 bikes that slipped across our border via grey market import - "for racing or display purposes". Please check with your local DMV about obtaining registration and if your state recognizes European VIN (less than 17 digits). Seller is providing Notarized Bill of Sale with this machine. Some states might require mirrors and functioning turnsignals to obtain a tag for street use. Suzuki TL1000R mirrors are a direct fit and all OEM turnsignal wiring remains stock and easily accessible. This is your chance to own a hand made Italian masterpiece from the marquee brand of Bimota.
