The FLSTS Heritage Springer was introduced in 1997 as a replacement for the FLSTN Heritage Softail. It has saddlebags with fringe, whitewalls, fishtail mufflers, and passing lamps as an effort to provide it the appearance of a '48 FL Panhead. The '97-'99 designs years had an Evolution motor with a 5-speed transmission. The Evolution engine is 80 cubic inches(1340 cc) and utilized a dual fire ignition which fired both the cylinders at the exact same time. The gas tank is split with a 4.2 gallon ability. Transformation happened with the coming of the 2000 model year. A new Softail frame was presented with a different and improved geometry. The frame backbone was strengthened and a new swingarm with better rear brakes (extra piston) were included. The Evolution motor was changed with the Twin Cam. The Twin Cam was increased to 88 cubic inches(1450 cc) and for Softails only, was counterbalanced to compensate for the rigid installing system utilized. This unit has upgraded fishtail mufflers, air horn, XM radio, drink holder, HD hybrid helmet with Scala Rider allowing one to listen to other riders and XM radio.
