The Ninja 650 appeals to an extensive audience from beginners to experienced riders. The engine is reasonably uncommon in using a 180 degree crankshaft. This lead to an unequal shooting period (180 degrees, 540 degrees) which provides the engine note a distinct throbbing quality. The motorcycle fits above the Ninja 250R and Ninja 500R models, which already existed in Kawasaki's sportbike lineup.
