Ducati 900 SD Darmah 1977Here is a rare opportunity to obtain a new 1977 900 SD Darmah. This is an especially desirable early model, with the brief Ceriani fork, much shorter Marzocchi shocks, and lighter Campagnolo wheels. The last time this bike was running was at the manufacturing facility test track in 1977, where it covered one mile. It was then delivered to California where it sat in a dealership for 35 years. The storage conditions weren't ideal and the frame and engine show indicators of surface area corrosion. The brakes were taken and the Campagnolo wheels wore away. So this bike has been refreshed however not brought back. The paint is all factory original, the uncommon early red with hand painted stripes, and the seat NOS. The initial twin bleed Brembo brake calipers have been restored and a set of NOS Campagnolo wheels fitted, still with the original 1977 M45 Michelin tires that are new (except for the broken sidewalls). Since of the deterioration many fasteners were replated with brand-new chrome on the exhaust pipelines and other chrome parts. The turn signals are also NOS, as is the CEV 9530 taillight. Cosmetically the bike is extremely nice, however not best as the frame has not been repainted and the engine not pulled apart. Everything is initial, down to the Berliner tag on the steering head. Where can you discover another like this with only one mile from new? I would not countenance riding this bike without bearing in mind a few essential problems. The initial Michelin tires are plainly dangerous for riding, and the engine has not been begun because mid-1977. The oil is fresh Castrol 50 weight and it turns over nicely and has good compression as you would get out of a new engine
