You are looking at a motorcycle built from the front end of a 1969 Honda 350. The rear end is a Harley Davidson Sporster. The seat is by Maverick. The engine is an aircooled 6 HP Diesel. It runs through a Comet Series 40 torque converter with a red spring in the driven pulley. This drives a jack shaft with a 15 tooth Series 40 chain. I replaced the chain and front sprocket recently. I am a little unsure on the size. Either 40 or a close size. There were a couple that fit the rear sprocket, I chose the heavier one. I added turn signals, a horn, a glow plug, a new Sporster battery and a tachometer. To make a tachometer work on an engine without sparkplugs, I mounted a Hall Effect sensor near a magnet on the drive pulley. To drive the glow plug, I added a permission switch and one that lights up red or green for off and on. This motorcycle hits a govenor limit at about 3200 RPM. At that speed your are going about 40 MPH. The front pulley is expanded and the rear driven pulley has not opened very much. I have not adjusted the red spring to make the pulley open more quickly, I assume that the top speed would go up. At 40 MP the engine does not sound like it is working hard. It is registered, has a plate that I will let go with the machine for the $25.00 I paid for a tag for it. It is street legal. The design and workmanship are very good. I did not build the basic machine, I added the details mentioned above to make it street legal. I passed my motorcycle driving test with this bike. I have built a few things and know that it would take serious effort to reproduce a unique machine like this. The time spent designing and fabricating are a lot. One area to mention is that the kick stand is on the left, near the rear brake boot lever that is also on the left. The rear brake works, but pressing the lever does push the kick stand aside. It is an area to examine and possiibly redesign. The builder used the Sporster rear wheel, but flipped it around to put the chain drive on the right side. I hope you enjoy this unusual creation.
