Honda CR250 Elsinore, THE LAST of the 250 Elsinores, one year only, produced the FIRST DAY, serial #00097.'Barn find' bike:*Sitting a decade or two.*GREAT compression.*Mostly original.*Clutch was inoperative - clutch outer was installed a notch off & didn't seat, rolled free no matter what gear.*Drained fuel.*Cleaned carb - no green, no corrosion, no damage whatsoever.*Fired up FIRST KICK after decades!*Appears to be a fairly LOW HOUR bike.*Pic of bottom cases - no exploding piston damage!*Kicks, sounds, and SCREAMS like a BIG BORE!*Apparently previous owner gave up after their failed attempt to service the clutch - apparently thought gearbox was bad.*Makes my '01 CR250 sound like a trail bike!*VERY FAST - I ran it up thru third gear, wheelies all the way if you get traction- too fast for me!!!*Team Honda won the 1981 Trophy Des Nations with THIS bike!*This model's engine has magnesium cases, the clutch & water pump covers are aluminum - no corrosion present anywhere. *LOCATION: Watervliet, Michigan, on M-140, 3 miles south of I-94 interchange. Just north of #Redbud.*I have more CR250s & parts, all will be available as health complications force retirement from my activities. The 1981 CR250 shares the works HRC bike’s long stroke engine design, center port exhaust, semi double cradle frame & ProLink single shock, rising rate linkage suspension - precursor for ALL the linkage designs in use today. The geometry is THE SAME as the factory works HRC RC250. Production CR450 & CR250 frames are identical except the 250 has radiator brackets. The 250 swingarm looks the same as the 450 swingarm but the 250 arm is about a half inch shorter. The magnesium cases were designed to work for 250s AND 450s (so 450 top end fits 250 case, using 450 clutch cover to eliminate liquid cooling(?). The clutch is the same on both bikes.Honda recommends running air in the forks, 3 psi was perfect. Adjust air pressure 1 psi at a time with the front wheel off the ground. The large diameter forks are sensitive to 1 psi changes, too soft at 2 psi, too stiff at 4 psi. Ten weight oil set at the recommended level, 6.6" felt perfect.THIS BIKE WAS DESIGNED AND PRODUCED FOR RACING ONLY AND IS SOLD AS IS - WHERE IS. NO GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. IT SHOULD BE COMPLETELY SERVICED AND RESTORED TO ORIGINAL CONDITION BEFORE RIDING.SHIPPING: Not available.PAYMENT: $500 deposit within 24hrs via PayPal, balance due within seven days. --------NOTHING broken, stripped, nor missing, other than the boot protector over the drive sprocket, and the original front 'airfoil' number plate, which EVERYBODY removed right away! Most, if not ALL, original bolts are still there, too.
