Description:
About the only thing stock on this 93 XRL is the frame, swing arm and engine case. The engine was rebuild about 2500 miles ago and runs stronger than any other XRL I have sat on, which is several. Oil obsessively changes every 700-1000miles. I used to check the valves with each oil change, but the never seem to move, so now every other oil change. I have lots of spare stock parts including forks, speedo Engine upgrades include a new NX650 second gear (this takes care of the annoying gap between 1st and second and is much better for trail riding and street), new XR600 high compression piston, stage 1 hot cam, exhaust valves cut and lapped by XR s Only, new exhaust valves, engine was bead blasted and painted and of course all new gaskets. Every electronic I have wired has been wired using water tight Posi-Locks. This bike is setup to rip and is more than capable for packing plenty of gear to be gone for a long long time. Also on the bike / Extra Parts Stage 1 hot cam (great for high desert speeds) ($130) Brand New Stock Cam in box (great for hair scrambles) ($140) NX650 Second Gear (decreases the large gap between 1st and 2nd and makes 2nd a wheelie gear) ($30 + cost of rebuilding the transmission) Xr600 10.5:1 piston (why XR600, because it has the ideal compression, higher than stock but runs great on regular gas) ($180) Valve ground and lapped by XRs Only ($100) New Exhaust Valves ($100) New Cam Chain ($80) FCR40mm Pumper Carb (makes this bike rip!) What s currently on the to-do list? (In an attempt to be completely transparent) I installed a NEW FMF Powercore about 200 miles ago. It rips, but seems to be a tad rich on the main jet. Needs a new speedo cable for the vapor unit. I ve just been running GPS for the last year. I thought I would never post this ad, but the time has arrived. I ve love this bike to death and am sure I will be building another one in the future, but for now I can only afford to have on bike and am craving a light weight trails bike to hone my dirt skills.
